Your family is worth it.

Families face many challenges that can often lead to conflict and disconnection. There can be deep hurt when expectations aren't met and people feel let down. Our adult family counselling service provides a safe space for two or more members to speak openly, be heard, and to work through issues together.

What family counselling can help you with.

We're focused on creating a space where everyone can feel seen, heard and understood. Our sessions ultimately focus on building connections, and we welcome all combinations of families.

Where family counselling involves children under sixteen, the first session is held with the child on their own.

Family counselling FAQs.

  • What if some family members don't want to attend?

It’s common for not everyone to feel ready or willing to participate in counselling. Sessions can still be effective even if only some members attend—or a person ends up getting one-on-one counselling. We'll will work with those who are present to explore concerns, improve communication, and develop strategies that can positively influence the whole family.

Over time, family members who were initially reluctant may choose to join once they see the benefits.

  • Why does my under-sixteen child have to attend the first session alone?

The first session is held with your child on their own to give them a safe space to speak openly. Without parents present, children often feel more comfortable sharing their thoughts, feelings, and experiences honestly.

This helps the counsellor understand their perspective and build trust, which supports more effective family sessions later.

If this is something that you may not feel comfortable with, you're more than welcome to contact us so we can talk through it in more detail.

  • Does family counselling include extended families?

Absolutely. Family counselling can focus on your core family unit or include other family members if the issues affect them as well. We’ve worked with adult siblings, grandparents, young families, blended families, uncles, aunties, in-laws, and more—any combination that helps address the concerns is welcome.

  • Can I do family counselling and individual counselling at the same time?

Yes—some people find it helpful to have additional one-on-one sessions alongside family counselling. These sessions may or may not be directly related to the family session. You might use them to process what came up during the family session, or to focus on other personal issues entirely.
